- Large knob of butter (about 30-40g)
- 550g fillet steak
- 300g button mushrooms
- Teaspoon of english mustard
- 150ml soured cream
- 1 onion
- 600g egg noodles
Method
Chop the mushrooms into slices and do the same with the onion - note: we do not want the onions diced. Now chop the steak into finger-like strips.
On a low heat, melt the butter in a large pan. Add in the onion and fry until tender. Now add in the mushrooms. Fry for a couple of minutes. Add in the mustard and stir so that it is spread evenly throughout the mix. Season well with plenty of salt and pepper.
Put the noodles in the microwave as per the instructions on the pack!
Now add in the steak and bring the temperature right up. Stir constantly until all sides of the meat have browned. I found that the meat should look pretty brown but there may still be a bit of a tinge of red - this is when you want to bring the heat back down and add the soured cream and cook for about 2 minutes. Grate in a little cheese (it should melt).
Serve with the noodles and some courgettes or peas.
