Give it a shot and let us know what you think.
So some people make tarts by doing it upside down. They chuck in their apple and cinnamon and sugar and then the pastry and then bake it. But this seemed way to risky for me. So I did it this way. My cunning tactic was to chuck a lid on top of the whole thing whilst it baked so that the apple did not dry out. It worked really well! Give it a shot and let us know what you think. Make this and feel like a ninja. I've always wanted to make one but I never I thought I could because I don't have the special ball ornament thingy. Turns out you don't need one... A balloon is perfect. So if you fancy a mini pud but don't want to bake an entire cake then this could be the thing for you. Don't get me wrong I love cake in a cup but there's nothing like a proper cake that's been baked in the oven. You can have problems with them drying out but this recipe works really well so give it a go. You can, of course, share it. But that's up to you. In a bid to be nice I made this for Elena (and obviously me too) as I thought it might be nice as a bit of a Valentine's Day thing. I got the heart shaped cookie cutters from Anne, my amazing college mentor (shout out to Anne!) but you could cut one out of some paper/trace it/get arty and just do it by eye. To be honest it's the thought that counts so just give it a shot. This is a no cook recipe too so you can do it in advance and feel like a pro when you do the grand reveal with absolutely no effort. #winning. The brownies you see tucked away in there cheesecake brownies. Read below and watch the video for our thoughts... not as simple as I thought it'd be but still a good fun thing to do and it looks pretty fab. When BuzzFeed did their recipe they just used bought 'brownie mix'. Where's the satisfaction in that? Here's a cheeky recipe for super fab brownies using three ingredients. And it's got a cheeky vanilla cheesecake-y top. Living the dream. So this is like our Three Ingredient Brownie recipe but with a cheeky vanilla cheesecake topping! FUNKY. Did it with proper Nutella and it's just gorgeous. I am a huge fan! They're really lovely and moist. Went down very well! I cut it into 6 large slices. This is like a grown up lemon drizzle cake. I made it gluten free because Freddie was running a "gin siesta" and he can't do gluten. Gluten free flour doesn't seem to change how the cake cooks or anything. So just do it. Gin and lemon is a classic combination and it works wonderfully in this cheeky cake. Give it a go! Remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel/like the Facebook page. So I was pottering off to the shops when I bumped into Mike and we got chatting and he suggested I try this. It's a rather amazing tomato tart. Well worth a go. Vegetarian. Glorious. I tried having it after the oven when it was still hot but can confirm it's much better when it's cool. Suggest maybe taking it out of the fridge a little before eating though so that it has time to come up to room temperature a bit. Give it a go! Saw this recipe on Buzzfeed and wondered whether it actually worked...it only uses three ingredients... is that too good to be true? Watch the video on YouTube or Facebook and read below to find out what we thought. Enjoy! Ingredients
Method Pop everything in a bowl and blend. The mix should turn to a kind of moist blu-tack consistency. Pop a small ball onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Now flatten it (see vid) and then pop a little chocolate spread in the middle. Grab another small ball of dough and flatten it in the palms of your hands then cover the chocolate spread and pinch the sides together. This recipe, despite Buzzfeed's claim of 18 makes 7 good sized cookies. Cook for 7 mins at 180 then let them cool entirely. The Verdict: they are tasty but not quite cookies; more like thin brownies. Still that's not a bad thing! My housemates really liked them so that's pretty good in itself! Well worth a go considering how easy they are to do. So this recipe came from Sally's Baking Addiction, which is a really fab site for all things sweet. She uses Nutella and Graham crackers but I'm in the UK and they don't have Graham crackers over here so I used digestives. Perfect. Give it a go. Very simple to do and you'll feel like a pro. I only discovered the delights of fajitas the other day and I am now a total convert. They're super easy to make and taste wonderful. Just buy the spices and they'll last for decades. My problem is I eat way too much of it all in one go but if you can resist I reckon this will do you three meals..ish. So here we are. Meat-free Monday. This was actually really good. It's lovely and rich and super healthy. There's that famous "fact" about celery - it is meant to burn more calories than it gives you or something. So if you're trying to be a bit healthier, then this is definitely a good one. And, as I say, it isn't just eating a lettuce leaf. You can eat healthy and well without becoming a rabbit. #profound. The recipe came from a beautiful blog called Sprouted Kitchen. Go check it out! Does about 4 meals. I've frozen some. Wine is pretty key in this one so grab something nice. Check out Barking Booze for some suggestions. This is seriously funky and unbelievably easy. I made this because I spent pretty much the whole day yesterday trying to make a beef brisket thing for supper but it was a disaster! So to make myself feel better, I made this. And have eaten most of it too unfortunately. Anyhow, I reckon this would be a fab pud for date night as you can do it in advance and it looks amazing so you'll feel like a total pro. Give it a shot! Enjoy! So I had this out in Hong Kong over the summer and they had it for sale in the grocery so I got some. It's gorgeous. Takes no time to cook and is super delish. You just need some garlic so this about as it gets. Trick is to keep the heat low when frying the garlic. Probably a side or could be a green quick bite if you are trying to be super healthy... So I said that for my New Year resolution I was going to be more vegetarian because, as has been duly noted by Ravi and Chloe, I am really not great at it. This was a lovely little supper that was actually surprisingly filling. And you feel gorgeously healthy afterwards. Very easy, very nice. Give it a go. OMG. This is amazing. It'll rock your world. It's obviously not as healthy as a fruit-only ice cream but by changing the base to banana you're making it much better. And it tastes FAB. So easy that you have no excuse not to do it. It's not too late to make some funky mince pies! These are such a cheat but to be honest taste pretty great. Dusting with icing sugar is a good shout. Hope we all have an absolutely blinder of a christmas! All the best!
So Lauren very kindly sent over this recipe. It's originally a Nigella one but I've massively reduced the amount of sugar in it. Still tastes lovely. It's a lovely refreshing orange and lime ice cream. Well worth a go. Super simple to make. Faaab. Also, I got half way through making this and realised it was a bit like the chocolate puds I like to make (these ones) and so I thought we'd make some little cheesecakes too. These worked really well! And because they come in little ramekins you don't end up eating waaayy to much. #BasicallyHealthy. All is explained below. Check out the video! Have a really glorious Christmas! So this is a lovely healthy little meal. Tilda very kindly sent me some rice to try and I must say I have rather enjoyed it. This stuff has Quinoa in it. Quinoa is super healthy but it still tastes great. I think it's fair to say we all kind of go a bit mad over Christmas in terms of how much food we eat but something like this is great because it really fills you up, it's very easy and yet it's not bad for you at all. The cashew nuts a great because they kind of give a cheeky bit of texture to it all. Well worth it. I used Tesco Value so they cost hardly anything. Go grab some. Give it a go! Check out the video too. This is a lovely little snack (or lunch) and very healthy. Tastes lovely too. The feta is a great little addition. Give it a go. Basically you're looking to get a nice balance between spinach and egg. Too much of either is nasty. If you want to make a big one, could add in two eggs I reckon. Haven't tried it though... Not really a hugggeee fan of gingerbread any time apart from round christmas. This recipe is based on one from BBC Good Food and works a treat. You may have seen my attempt at making a gingerbread house (it didn't work!). This is a difference recipe and is lovely. Will try a house again at some point when I have recovered a little bit..! Cora was the chief decorator here, which is why they look lovely. See some of my attempts in the vid below. Let's face it: smoothies are not as great as we think they are. Sure, they taste good but really the reason why we love them so much is because they're full of sugar. So this is a 'reduced' sugar recipe; obviously it's not as sweet but it does still get lots of fruit in you without the sugar. Give it a go. Watch the video. This is very similar to the Veggie Lentil Bolognese recipe from the other day only without wine and more meat (sorry Rav and Chloe). However, I really liked this. Bacon in anything is, frankly, a winner. Give it a go. Very easy. The recipe does about 4 meals. Freeze them.
Lentils are great because they're very filling. Thoroughly recommend. Super easy and super healthy. This is a great snack and a fabulous way to get some fruit in you! |
