We were drinking rosé with it. Beer is the classic curry drink but I got chatting to someone over the summer and they suggested that rosé works well with it - can confirm it's very pleasant.
Ross and I have been meaning to have a curry sesh for a while. We finally got around to doing it the other day. Ross is seriously hot on his food so this is definitely worth a go. Don't be intimidated by the long list of spices; go to the covered market in Durham and you can get them all for, if I remember correctly, £1.85. That's just insane. And you'll have plenty left to do more stuff with.
We were drinking rosé with it. Beer is the classic curry drink but I got chatting to someone over the summer and they suggested that rosé works well with it - can confirm it's very pleasant. I love duck. When I saw that it was in the 2 for £7 or 3 for £10 deal in Tesco I couldn't refuse. That means this is the same price as chicken really. So do it. This is about as easy as it gets. Takes about half an hour so you don't even have to slave over a hot stove for hours. Enjoy. Watch the video. This is just like a bread and butter pudding but with Jaffa Cakes. It's amazing. This makes one. So Monty Bojangles sent me some "Flutter Scotch" to review. Basically they're truffles. And they're absolutely fabulous. Top quality chocolate. Something you want after a fab meal. I made this for the house and we've all had loads of it. Really delish. We all really enjoyed it. Give it a shot. You can really see why the chocolate has a "great taste" award. If you are planning a dinner party or want to impress someone #basicallytinder then do give this a go! So the other day I bought some Salted Caramel Liqueur from Tesco. One of the best decisions I've made for a while. It's like a Baileys but salted caramel. Fab. Like our Best Easy Hot Chocolate but with a bit of an extra kick! Ingredients
Method Pop the milk in the mug and microwave for about 1.5 mins. It should be piping hot - when you stick your finger in, it should hurt! Break in the chocolate and add in the liqueur. Stir until all the chocolate has melted (forks are great for this). Drink! How fab is that?! OK so this is the easiest recipe in the world. We all love brownies but they are a bit of a faff to make. These are absolutely amazing. And they're just flour, chocolate spread and eggs. Do it. If you have more time, you can try our original Oreo Chocolate Brownie recipe here. If you haven't already worked it out, I'm currently obsessed with these healthy ice creams. They taste amazing and are super healthy. What's not to like.
This is by far the best biscuit/cookie you can make in the microwave. It takes no time at all to make and, given you are not baking it, it really is pretty decent. I would definitely recommend giving it a go. One thing you should remember is that not all microwaves are created equal - by this I mean that they all have different power outputs so you'll have to experiment to see what timing works best for you!
Hamish and I have very different tactics when it comes to lunch. I am more of a pick and go person whereas Hamish makes these incredible foot-long sandwiches. Kind of like Subway but a bit less grimy... Anyhow, this is his first contribution to Barking Baking and it is pretty darn good. If you are patient enough to make one, do it.
So Federer and Djokovic are battling it out as we speak! Looks like it's going to be a great game! It's bound to go on for a while so why not make yourself a lovely little snack pot?!
This is my dad's favourite meal. Although it is really simple he insists it is the eighth wonder of the modern world. In fairness, it does taste great and is really easy to do. However, we never tell him this otherwise he would be unbearable. This recipe fed three people but really you could do about 4. Give it a go - suggest you have it with ketchup or baked tomatoes. Very nice.
Kedgeree is traditionally eaten at breakfast but really I think it makes for a rather lovely supper. It uses fairly simple ingredients and smoked haddock tends to be on offer. The great thing about this one is that it really fills you up. I also really like the way it can be the centre-piece for a meal - just pop it in a bowl and chuck it on the table and then you can have as much or as little as you like.
Wooaaah. This was really good. The avocados make it creamy and healthy whilst the salty bacon gives it a bit of a tang. Very nice. Very easy. Love a good pancake. This is super easy and works like a dream. Check out the video for a full walk through. Makes two. This is runnier than the other pancake recipe and so you can make more crepe-like pancakes. Not really sure what the difference between crepes and pancakes are; think crepes are basically a bit thinner. This is really easy and perfect for the end of term when you have no proper food left #student. Enjoy. Check this out. I seem to live off a constant supply of peanut butter and jam on toast, so I thought why not in a cake? Works fab. Be generous with the peanut butter. Here the jam looks like a heart so I guess it could be a post-valentine-I-still-love-you cake? So easy you'd be mad not to try it.
Wow. This was soooo good! If you don't have the ice cream, just add a shot of baileys and if you don't have the baileys just drink it as is! Absolutely amazing stuff.
These are something of a tradition in our house - we make monstrous sandwiches with all the meat left over from the meal at lunch! It really is fantastic. Hope you have all had a splendid Christmas!
Nothing like a good apple tart on a cold December day. Furiously procrastinating right now. This tastes great and is actually dead simple to do. Not that bad for you either as it is mostly apple #oneofyourfiveaday #dubious
Give it a go! This recipe was introduced to me by Nick - affectionately nicknamed "GermaNic" because he comes from Germany. It was splendid. The chicken is sweet and it balances wonderfully with the mozzarella. When I did this at home for the fam my mum insisted on green beans too. Much as I hate to admit it, they weren't too bad. I was doubtful that so much balsamic vinegar would be a good thing in anything but it just works fabulously with the oregano and the brown sugar. The resulting sauce is rich and sweet, but it balances beautifully with the tomato salad. I couldn't get enough of the sauce. The reason the post is called "'H' is for Chicken" is because chicken in german is "Hühnchen" #toptip. It is also disgustingly easy to do. If you have it, chuck a slug of white wine in the risotto, or if you don't have them don't worry about the shallots! Enjoy. Made some lemon cupcakes the other day. Problem was they take time. This really doesn't! Hungry? Do it! This is just fantastic. Chocolate cake is the best kind of cake. This is No. 5 in the Cambridge "Microwave Week"! Suuucccchh fun! Since we put chocolate in pre-cooking there are strands of chocolate all through the cake...! It's lovely. Give it a go. Love this. I think that honey may be the secret to perfect cake. Have a go. No 4 "Microwave Week". Ingredients
Method Mix everything up into a paste with a fork! Cook for 1 minute.
Rosie introduced me to this a few weeks ago when her brother was up. It smelt and tasted fantastic. She kindly sent me the recipe - it must be said it is originally a Nigel Slater (and therefore fabulous) and this is the Barking Baking attempt! Adding a little chilli powder is definitely worth it if you've got some as it adds a bit of a kick.
So easy. So full of flavour. So cheap. It made Rob very happy. Beautiful. |
