We've all got cookbooks. But really most of us only cook a handful of recipes regularly. Why? Because it's hard to get the ingredients that you need. If you need a tablespoon of capers, you have to buy the whole pot. So you either buy it - which is expensive - or you leave it out - which means the food doesn't taste as good. The food that we buy in supermarkets comes in quantities that do not reflect the recipes we cook. So I propose to sell "Bundles" of just the right ingredients for the great recipes you'll find on BarkingBaking.com. This means you'll cook better food, you won't waste time finding recipes and you won't overbuy ingredients.
I started BarkingBaking.com at the end of my first year at Durham University when I realised that I couldn't cook anything beyond baked beans (and cake). It started as a kind modern day family cookbook. Then my friends started to use it. It grew quickly and now, just 9 months later, we have a significant following from all over the world. Barking Baking got to the final of the Durham Blueprint Enterprise Challenge, but I want to take this further. I have already received samples of the kind of boxes I envisage but I would like the support and advice on offer to develop the product and get it in supermarkets. This product will help people cook better, waste less and spend less. Let's make making food better.
