Quality Food in Durham
Although I've been here for a few years now, I only went in for lunch the other day. Elena and I went together.. We'd heard great things but had never tried lunch there before. It was really lovely. The highlight for me was definitely the Greek Pitta with salad. It was just fantastic. Absolutely loved it; filled us up and tasted really great. A real cut above the standard sandwich you might get anywhere else. Get the voucher and go try something.
Andreas is a really lovely man. We sat down and had a chat and he explained that he has his own bakery just out of town where he makes everything you can get in Ciao Ciao. It's proper, high quality homemade food. It's not like it's shipped in from somewhere slightly obscure. This is great, fresh food.
Ciao Ciao is one of those places we've all seen as we wander around town but we really should get behind Andreas. So next time you get those coffee cravings head in and grab something truly delish.
You'll get great service and superb food.

Reviews
“An absolute must for good eaters. This asset to Durham is quite simply a down to earth food heaven.” - The Observer
“Sitting at the North Road end of Framwellgate Bridge in an historic building that is now part of The Gates Shopping Centre, this cafe and deli is a haven of speciality foods with a Greek/Italian twist. This Mediterranean mix is explained by the heritage of the owner, Andreas Souris, who is a mix of these two great food nations. His baklava, Greek spinach and feta pie, and Italian focaccia are the best you will get here or on the Mediterranean, and coupled with his infectious enthusiasm for his food, a visit is both tasty and entertaining.” - Sanderson Young Collection Magazine, Jane Pickett
