Ripe, soft, plummy, generously flavoured Chilean carmenère, and a members' favourite of some years. Discovering good, inexpensive wines of this quality is a rare event. What is remarkable about the Lascar wines is that they taste far more expensive and sophisticated than they have a right to, considering the price.
What we say:
Elena and I had a lovely supper with this one. It was one of those improvised meals with some tortellini, plenty of lovely bread, some cheese and a mud cake pud thing. Good stuff.
It's quite heavy but perfectly drinkable. I think we both agree when we say it was nice with blue cheese. Not my favourite but nothing wrong with it at all - had a fantastic evening.
