Let's face it: smoothies are not as great as we think they are. Sure, they taste good but really the reason why we love them so much is because they're full of sugar. So this is a 'reduced' sugar recipe; obviously it's not as sweet but it does still get lots of fruit in you without the sugar. Give it a go. Watch the video. I love frubes. Place the frube in the freezer making sure that it's straight - don't want a wonky frube otherwise it won't come out. That's it. Just freeze and eat! This is very similar to the Veggie Lentil Bolognese recipe from the other day only without wine and more meat (sorry Rav and Chloe). However, I really liked this. Bacon in anything is, frankly, a winner. Give it a go. Very easy. The recipe does about 4 meals. Freeze them.
Lentils are great because they're very filling. Thoroughly recommend. Super easy and super healthy. This is a great snack and a fabulous way to get some fruit in you! Ross and I have been meaning to have a curry sesh for a while. We finally got around to doing it the other day. Ross is seriously hot on his food so this is definitely worth a go. Don't be intimidated by the long list of spices; go to the covered market in Durham and you can get them all for, if I remember correctly, £1.85. That's just insane. And you'll have plenty left to do more stuff with.
We were drinking rosé with it. Beer is the classic curry drink but I got chatting to someone over the summer and they suggested that rosé works well with it - can confirm it's very pleasant. Saw this on a blog late last night I think. Gave it a go. It's like french toast, but with an egg. Amazeballs. What a way to start your day. Smother with ketchup. Music in the vid is my own; enjoy! Method Cut a hole out of the bread with a glass. Melt the butter on a lowish heat. Pop the bread on. Crack the egg in. Cool until it's pretty much all white through. Flip. Season. Eat. Fab. I love duck. When I saw that it was in the 2 for £7 or 3 for £10 deal in Tesco I couldn't refuse. That means this is the same price as chicken really. So do it. This is about as easy as it gets. Takes about half an hour so you don't even have to slave over a hot stove for hours. Enjoy. I'm living with two and a half vegetarians (Cora is kind of sitting on the fence and has a cheeky bacon sarnie every now and again). This means that I am often encouraged to eat more vegetarian stuff. I've given in and here is a rather nice Nigel Slater recipe. I added wine and I think this makes it much better. It's actually really filling and great on a cold winter night. Give it a shot. If you haven't got carrots but do have bacon then try this recipe. Now it's getting colder, it's high time for some more egg nog! This is a lovely little warmer. And the cheeky salted caramel liqueur adds that super special kick. Give it a go. Method Pour the milk into your mug (this is just to measure it). Now pop it in a pan (off the heat). Crack an egg into another mug and beat with a fork until foamy. Add to the milk. Break the chocolate into small pieces and add to the milk. Now turn the heat on very low and stir constantly with a wooden spoon. You'll know it's done when the mix thickens and it begins to steam. Pour it into the original mug and top it up with the liqueur. Fab. Enjoy. Watch the video. This is just like a bread and butter pudding but with Jaffa Cakes. It's amazing. This makes one. So Monty Bojangles sent me some "Flutter Scotch" to review. Basically they're truffles. And they're absolutely fabulous. Top quality chocolate. Something you want after a fab meal. I made this for the house and we've all had loads of it. Really delish. We all really enjoyed it. Give it a shot. You can really see why the chocolate has a "great taste" award. If you are planning a dinner party or want to impress someone #basicallytinder then do give this a go! So the other day I bought some Salted Caramel Liqueur from Tesco. One of the best decisions I've made for a while. It's like a Baileys but salted caramel. Fab. Like our Best Easy Hot Chocolate but with a bit of an extra kick! Ingredients
Method Pop the milk in the mug and microwave for about 1.5 mins. It should be piping hot - when you stick your finger in, it should hurt! Break in the chocolate and add in the liqueur. Stir until all the chocolate has melted (forks are great for this). Drink! How fab is that?! So I was hungry. This happened. I used home made vanilla ice cream, but you could use bought stuff. Enjoy. Method Pop everything in a blender and blend! It's that easy. Omelettes seem to frighten people. I don't really know why. This recipe works for me and you can basically add anything to it. Today I added ham and cheese. Trick (as I mention in the video) is to use strong cheese and nice ham (ideally). Also season well. Pepper is your friend.
So this is a new take on the classic barking baking cookies. It's lovely. I accidentally bought peanut M and Ms but actually it tastes fab anyway so well worth a go. Dig in. I was busy watching some videos the other day and came across one by Gemma Stafford. She was doing something similar to this and it works brilliantly. Enjoy! I think this is my new favourite one. This is actually a Nigella recipe and really fab. It's great if you need a quick hit of energy. Give it a go. Make sure you use the vanilla, it's what makes it so good. Ingredients
Method Crack the egg into a mug and whisk up. Pour this egg into a tin/bowl big enough for one piece of bread to lie flat in. Now add in the vanilla extract and stir about. Cut the bread into triangles and lay it flat in the tin. After a few minutes, when it has soaked up some of the egg, flip the bread and sprinkle sugar over it (about 1 pudding spoon). Whilst you are waiting, pop a frying pan on the heat with a large knob of butter. Gently melt it. After you have soaked both sides of the bread. Pop the bread in, sugar side up, and let it fry gently. After a few minutes the bread will begin to brown nicely; turn it over. You'll probably need a spatular and a fork/knife for this. Let it fry. It shouldn't take long. Whilst it is frying, sprinkle out some sugar on a plate. When the bread is done, take it out (carefully, it'll be hot) and turn it about in the sugar so it's lovely and coated. Do this for both and pop on a plate. Chuck a hunk of strawberry jam on top and then enjoy This is a lovely little meal. You don't have to put it with pasta; there are many different ways of serving it. The key thing to learn here is how to cook the salmon a healthy, delicious way. We don't add butter because we're feeling healthy. Check out the video. I was walking back from rowing this afternoon with Sophie and we got talking about food and cooking. I admitted I had a courgette left over from my escapades with a ratatouille. I didn't know what to do with it. Sophie suggested, among other things, a courgette frittata. It's superb. And I feel sooo healthy. OK so this is the easiest recipe in the world. We all love brownies but they are a bit of a faff to make. These are absolutely amazing. And they're just flour, chocolate spread and eggs. Do it. Kathy and James made one the other day and I thought it was fab so I had a go at my own version. This recipe is based on one from the BBC site but I didn't use 4 eggs as I couldn't see the point.
