Here goes...
1. WATER - don't look at it. Drink it. Before you go to sleep. When you wake up. All the time. #BeMoreSea.
Went to Liv's last night and things escalated. It was a really lovely evening and great to see everyone but I must say that I did wake up feeling a tad tender. So I thought it was high time I do a post about surviving hangovers. There is no silver bullet but these are my hangover cures. Or at least the way I deal with them.
Here goes... 1. WATER - don't look at it. Drink it. Before you go to sleep. When you wake up. All the time. #BeMoreSea. Hope we’ve all had a fab boxing day! We went down to Dorset to see the rest of the family. Was absolutely lovely. Unfortunately I am a tad coldy so I’ve been put on this - Whisky Mac. It’s AMAZING. Apparently it’s a traditional winter drink but it works wonders for colds….allegedly. Green ginger wine is something I had never heard of before. It’s kind of sweet and not really that green. But very nice. Would recommend. Ingredients
Method The ratio you need is 1:1 so basically a large shot of each works like a dream. Seriously delish. We used “The Famous Grouse” and “Stone’s”. Fab. It's not too late to make some funky mince pies! These are such a cheat but to be honest taste pretty great. Dusting with icing sugar is a good shout. Hope we all have an absolutely blinder of a christmas! All the best!
So Lauren very kindly sent over this recipe. It's originally a Nigella one but I've massively reduced the amount of sugar in it. Still tastes lovely. It's a lovely refreshing orange and lime ice cream. Well worth a go. Super simple to make. Faaab. Also, I got half way through making this and realised it was a bit like the chocolate puds I like to make (these ones) and so I thought we'd make some little cheesecakes too. These worked really well! And because they come in little ramekins you don't end up eating waaayy to much. #BasicallyHealthy. All is explained below. Check out the video! Have a really glorious Christmas! So this is a lovely healthy little meal. Tilda very kindly sent me some rice to try and I must say I have rather enjoyed it. This stuff has Quinoa in it. Quinoa is super healthy but it still tastes great. I think it's fair to say we all kind of go a bit mad over Christmas in terms of how much food we eat but something like this is great because it really fills you up, it's very easy and yet it's not bad for you at all. The cashew nuts a great because they kind of give a cheeky bit of texture to it all. Well worth it. I used Tesco Value so they cost hardly anything. Go grab some. Give it a go! Check out the video too. This is a lovely little snack (or lunch) and very healthy. Tastes lovely too. The feta is a great little addition. Give it a go. Basically you're looking to get a nice balance between spinach and egg. Too much of either is nasty. If you want to make a big one, could add in two eggs I reckon. Haven't tried it though... Not really a hugggeee fan of gingerbread any time apart from round christmas. This recipe is based on one from BBC Good Food and works a treat. You may have seen my attempt at making a gingerbread house (it didn't work!). This is a difference recipe and is lovely. Will try a house again at some point when I have recovered a little bit..! Cora was the chief decorator here, which is why they look lovely. See some of my attempts in the vid below. Let's face it: smoothies are not as great as we think they are. Sure, they taste good but really the reason why we love them so much is because they're full of sugar. So this is a 'reduced' sugar recipe; obviously it's not as sweet but it does still get lots of fruit in you without the sugar. Give it a go. Watch the video. I love frubes. They were such a huge part of my childhood. Now we've given them a cheeky barking baking makeover... Watch the video to learn more! Key tip:
Place the frube in the freezer making sure that it's straight - don't want a wonky frube otherwise it won't come out. That's it. Just freeze and eat! This is very similar to the Veggie Lentil Bolognese recipe from the other day only without wine and more meat (sorry Rav and Chloe). However, I really liked this. Bacon in anything is, frankly, a winner. Give it a go. Very easy. The recipe does about 4 meals. Freeze them.
Lentils are great because they're very filling. Thoroughly recommend. Super easy and super healthy. This is a great snack and a fabulous way to get some fruit in you! Ross and I have been meaning to have a curry sesh for a while. We finally got around to doing it the other day. Ross is seriously hot on his food so this is definitely worth a go. Don't be intimidated by the long list of spices; go to the covered market in Durham and you can get them all for, if I remember correctly, £1.85. That's just insane. And you'll have plenty left to do more stuff with.
We were drinking rosé with it. Beer is the classic curry drink but I got chatting to someone over the summer and they suggested that rosé works well with it - can confirm it's very pleasant. Saw this on a blog late last night I think. Gave it a go. It's like french toast, but with an egg. Amazeballs. What a way to start your day. Smother with ketchup. Music in the vid is my own; enjoy! Ingredients
Method Cut a hole out of the bread with a glass. Melt the butter on a lowish heat. Pop the bread on. Crack the egg in. Cool until it's pretty much all white through. Flip. Season. Eat. Fab. |
