Healthy delicious snack. Fish is meant to be good brain food. I need all the help I can get. Realise this might not feel like proper student food but if you fancy treating yourself then this is a good bet. Also check out Nina Simone in the video. Hamish and I have very different tactics when it comes to lunch. I am more of a pick and go person whereas Hamish makes these incredible foot-long sandwiches. Kind of like Subway but a bit less grimy... Anyhow, this is his first contribution to Barking Baking and it is pretty darn good. If you are patient enough to make one, do it.
I met up with some old school friends the other day and James was revelling in his recent success with homemade burgers. It only seemed right that I give it a go, so here is the attempt. I can report that they were fantastic! Based on a Jamie Oliver recipe. Hardly any effort and much nicer as you know exactly what has gone in it.
Two of my housemates are vegetarians. I, as you may have gathered, am not. Despite this, we live in perrrrfffeeecctttt harmony! Often, they are keen to sing of the virtues of eating what has become as "non-murder". One of the points they raise is that of cost. Meat is expensive. For the same price as some chicken, you could feed a small vegetarian army. However, I do believe we have found a challenger: GAMMON.
The bit I used was 750g and cost just £3. That's basically vegetable prices. And it'll keep a hungry carnivore happy for a good few days! I feel that too much cereal is eaten at the weekend. In college we always used to have brunch on Sunday so this is my homage to that.
Not really a recipe as it is so blindingly easy it is unreal, more of a gentle reminder that bacon and eggs exist (it can be easy to get on that cereal/toast treadmill). The only possible issue here is putting your toast on too early and eating a soggy, cold sarnie. Not about that. We have, however, addressed this issue below so fear not! Enjoy your breakfast this weekend! I was hungry at lunch and felt like some proper food. Sausages were, therefore, obviously on the agenda. This is easy. Do it.
Soooooo goood! Peanut butter and chocolate in a beautiful plaited loaf. Life doesn't get much better. Different flavour in each plait. Amazing.
I think we can all safely agree that this is a fantastic idea. Everyone likes chocolate spread on their toast - but this cooks the chocolate spread into the bread itself! It is the best thing ever! Looks great, tastes great. What is not to like?! Boom.
OK. You saw it here first. This is just the best idea EVER. The ultimate toastie - the ham and cheese is cooked right into the bread, and because you roll it, it looks fantastic. This will rock your world.
Super easy. Just chuck everything on and enjoy. Use the Olive and Parmesan Swirl Bread.
If you can't be bothered to cook the bacon, I suggest you use ham and add a pinch of salt. |
